Justin Smith

Justin is a Managing Partner at Recharge Capital, a multi-asset class private markets investor focused on financial services and healthcare. The firm concentrates its efforts on acquiring cash flowing businesses while running a parallel venture capital strategy that enables a flywheel of enterprise value creation on both sides. Justin leads platform expansion initiatives and has a particular expertise in go-to-market strategy and distribution, having led sales and business development teams at a tech unicorn. Justin plays a key role in managing investments and facilitating partnerships between Recharge’s portfolio companies and stakeholders.

Previously, Justin founded Chaos Ventures and led over 150+ venture capital transactions spanning pre-seed through Series A. His past investment portfolio covers fintech, healthcare, and consumer with an emphasis on technology application such as AI, synthetic biology, and blockchain. Prior to Chaos Ventures, Justin held investment roles at Tusk Venture and Providence Equity Partners. Justin began his career in leveraged finance investment banking at Jefferies and an audit professional at Ernst & Young. He is a licensed CPA.
